Mevnix as a Looker Studio alternative
Almost everyone looking for a looker studio alternative is not looking for better charts. They are looking at a dashboard someone built once, that still refreshes, that answers questions nobody is currently asking, and that they last opened in the spring. The tool is free and it works. The problem is that a dashboard is a standing answer to a fixed question, and the questions that actually come up are never the ones it was built for.
Why the dashboard stops getting opened
A dashboard is configured at the moment you know least — before you have seen a season of data and before you know which numbers turn out to matter. Every question after that is either answered by a chart that happens to be there or requires editing the report, and editing the report is a task, so people stop. What survives is a page of metrics that are fine, next to the actual question, which is "why did this week look like that" and which no chart on the page addresses. The failure is not visual and it is not a missing feature. It is that the interface makes asking something new more expensive than not bothering.
Asking is cheaper than configuring
Mevnix inverts the cost. There is nothing to build up front: you connect the accounts, add one URL to Claude, and the first question costs the same as the hundredth. Following up is free, which is the part that changes behaviour — you see that impressions fell, you ask which pages, you ask which queries on those pages, you ask whether the same thing happened last year, and none of those needed a chart to exist first. That is a different relationship with the data than a report has, and it is the reason this is an alternative to looker studio rather than a cheaper version of it.
The thing we cannot do
We cannot hand someone a link. There is no shareable page, no embedded chart, no scheduled export and no branded cover — and if the monthly deliverable your client pays for is a dashboard URL, that is the whole argument and it goes the other way. In-product charts are being built and will arrive as an Insights tier, where Claude assembles the view from a sentence instead of you dragging fields; until that ships it gets future tense and no price. Plenty of people will end up keeping a Looker Studio report for the client and using Mevnix for the thinking, and that is a sensible outcome rather than a failure to switch.
What Looker Studio is better at
It is free, it connects natively to Search Console, GA4 and BigQuery without a paid intermediary, and it produces something you can send to someone else. Nothing here matches that last part: a shareable, branded, always-current page is a genuine deliverable, and if a client expects one every month then Looker Studio does a job we do not do at a price nothing can beat. Its blending and calculated fields are also more capable than most people ever use.
Stay with them if
- A client or a manager expects a link to a live dashboard they can open themselves.
- You need charts embedded in something, or a scheduled PDF going out on a date.
- Your data lives in BigQuery and the visualisation layer is genuinely where the work happens.
Price
- Looker Studio
- Free for the standard product. Looker Studio Pro is charged per user per project and is aimed at organisations that need support and team-level content management. Checked 3 September 2026 against their pricing page.
- Mevnix
- Free for one source of each type. $9/month for unlimited sources and unlimited clients — the details.
Questions
- Can I share a Mevnix view with a client?
- Not today. The dashboard is for the account holder, and there is no public link or embed. Sharing means pasting the answer, which for a quick question is usually what happens anyway.
- Looker Studio is free — why pay anything?
- The free tier answers that honestly: one website and one ad account cost nothing here either. The $9 is for running several businesses through it without limits, and if one free dashboard genuinely covers you, keep it.
- Does Mevnix connect to BigQuery?
- No. It reads Search Console, GA4 and Meta Ads directly. If your data already lands in a warehouse, the visualisation layer on top of it is a different problem from the one we solve.
- Why do most looker studio alternatives look the same?
- Because nearly all of them are also dashboards — AgencyAnalytics, Databox, Whatagraph and the rest compete on templates, white labelling and how quickly you can assemble a view. If the dashboard itself is what you need, comparing those on templates is the right exercise and we are not in it. We are on this list only because a large share of people searching for one turn out to want an answer rather than a better chart.
- Is it slower to ask than to look at a chart I already built?
- For the one question the chart was built for, yes, marginally. For every other question it is faster by an order of magnitude, because the alternative was editing the report. Which of those two cases dominates your week is the actual decision here.
- Does it handle blended data across sources?
- Not as a join in the Looker Studio sense — there are no calculated fields and no blended data sources to configure. What it does instead is read all three sources in one conversation, so the assistant can put ad spend next to sessions next to impressions for the same period and reason about them together. That covers most of what people actually build blends for and none of what they build them for when the answer has to be a chart.
